If you have ever contacted the Writing Instrument Manufacturers Association (WIMA) headquarters office or attended a WIMA event, you know the type of service this management team provides to its members. But did you know WIMA is managed by Association Headquarters, Inc., a company providing management and administrative services to trade associations?

Association Headquarters, Inc. (AH) has been operating since 1978. A staff of more than 80 team members provides a variety of expertise working with association and society client partners. AH proudly manages associations and societies with budgets ranging from $250,000 to $5 million.

AH is the recipient of more than 50 association management awards. The company offers full-service and project-based management and uses a continuous staff development process.

A leader in the industry of association management, AH believes in fostered growth and development of all client partners. Retention of some client partners for more than 20 years is a testament to such.

AH has been involved with WIMA for a number of years and is committed to working with its Committees, Board of Directors and members for the betterment of the industry. With more than $4 billion in sales each year, the writing instrument industry faces new challenges every day. Each one impacts the sale of pens, cased pencils, mechanical pencils, markers or components of these instruments. WIMA is the voice of this industry, which helps members deal with these issues.

History of the Association
The Writing Instrument Manufacturers Association (WIMA) was established in 1943 to bring together the voices of the pen, marker and mechanical pencil industries. Since that time, the industry and WIMA have grown substantially, and WIMA's name and logo are widely recognized and have become synonymous with the industry. In 1994, the Pencil Makers Association (PMA) merged with WIMA to strengthen the industry's voice, making WIMA’s impact even stronger.

Mission Statement of the Association
The purpose of the Writing Instrument Manufacturers Association (WIMA) is to promote the overall interest of the writing instrument industry in the United States, Canada and Mexico. To this end, WIMA strives to keep its members well informed on issues which affect the industry and individual companies. WIMA provides a forum in which to discuss such issues and take such action as is deemed appropriate. WIMA maintains a public relations program to inform the general public concerning the safe and proper use and importance of writing instruments.

Industry Practices
WIMA and its members are committed to the conduct of business on the basis of expertise, effort and ability with ethical and responsible behavior in compliance with the laws and regulations of pertinent government authorities. WIMA supports the ethical conduct of business in the writing instrument industry worldwide.

Membership Eligibility
Any legally established for-profit business entity, which falls into the following business classifications, may be admitted to membership in the Association:

Writing and Marking Instrument Manufacturers
Applicant must operate facilities for the manufacture or assembly of finished writing and marking instruments in the U.S., Canada or Mexico. Foreign manufacturers or assemblers of writing instruments must have an office based in the U.S., Canada or Mexico whose principal business in the U.S. is the sale of such writing instruments in the U.S.

Component Suppliers
Applicant must operate facilities within the U.S., Canada or Mexico for the manufacture or assembly of components, materials, equipment, machinery or supplies used by manufacturers of writing and marking instruments. Foreign suppliers must have an office based in the U.S., Canada or Mexico whose principal business in the U.S. is the sale of components, materials, equipment, machinery or supplies in the U.S.

Exclusive Distributors
Applicant must have a contract from a writing or marking instrument manufacturer or component supplier, which indicates they have the exclusive right to distribute these products in the U.S., Canada or Mexico.
